Singapore National Day 2015
Singapore has come a long way since achieving independence in 1965, and is finally celebrating her 50th birthday this year. What better way to celebrate and show your patriotism than donning the national colours, red and white?
National Day Parade
Every year on August 9th, since gaining independence from Malaysia, Singaporeans celebrate the occasion with a bang at The Float @ Marina Bay. The parade is jam-packed with exciting events that include a speech by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the national flag fly-past, 21-gun salute, and various music and dance performances, with a stunning display of fireworks to end the festivities.
With this year being Singapore’s 50th milestone, the nation also celebrates SG50 and honoring all the pioneers who have helped build it.
Wearing the National Colours
When it comes to getting into the Singapore spirit, you can start with wearing an “I ♥ Singapore” t-shirt, or dress up in the national colours, red and white, which represent universal brotherhood and the equality of man, as well as “everlasting purity and virtue respectively.
If you are not too keen to go all out for the festivities, you can always incorporate the colours in a more subtle way with a red pair of ballet flats or accessories. If scarlet is too loud for you, opt for a tamer shade of red such as burgundy or auburn instead.
So get ready to celebrate Singapore’s 50th National Day and select from the chic range of red and white apparel available at ZALORA Singapore!
