Apple has finally entered the foldable phone scene with the iPhone Duo, a device designed to give you a regular smartphone experience when closed and a tablet-like display when opened. With its 7.6-inch inner screen, multitasking features and Apple Pencil support coming later this year, the big question is simple: can the iPhone Duo really replace your tablet?
The short answer is: for some users, yes. For everyone else, not quite.
iPhone Duo Specs: What You Get

The iPhone Duo comes with Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, a dual-battery system and a vapour chamber to help manage heat during gaming, multitasking and intensive AI features. It also comes with ProMotion, an Always-On display, up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness and IP68 water and dust resistance.
Here are some of the main iPhone Duo features:
- 7.6-inch inner folding display
- 5.4-inch outer display
- A20 Pro chip
- 48MP Fusion Main and 48MP Ultra Wide cameras
- 12MP Center Stage front camera
- 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options
- Up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display
- Up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display
- Support for Apple Pencil with USB-C later this year
- Titanium frame and hinge cover
- Touch ID built into the side button
The camera setup is slightly different from Apple’s Pro models. The iPhone Duo has two rear cameras but no dedicated telephoto lens, although it still offers 2x optical-quality zoom.

Can It Replace Your Tablet?
For some users, definitely.
The iPhone Duo could replace a tablet if you mainly use one for:
- Watching Netflix, YouTube or Disney+
- Reading articles and e-books
- Replying to emails
- Checking documents
- Using social media
- Taking notes
- Light photo and video editing
- Browsing while travelling
- Running two apps at once

The large folding screen also gives you more room to type, browse and follow a video while checking another app. That makes it useful for commuters, frequent travellers and anyone who dislikes carrying both a phone and a tablet.
The Apple Pencil support is another advantage. It could make the iPhone Duo handy for quick sketches, handwritten notes and simple annotations, although the smaller screen may feel limiting for people who use an iPad for drawing or detailed creative work.
iPhone Duo Crease: Is It Still Visible?

The crease is probably one of the first things people will notice about any foldable phone, and the iPhone Duo is no exception.
iPhone Duo uses a precision hinge and a nano-texture finish to reduce glare, reflections and crease visibility. The company also describes the hinge as smooth and durable. However, a foldable display still has a folding point, so the crease may remain visible from certain angles or under direct light.
In other words, the crease is designed to be less distracting, not magically erased. If you expect a completely flat screen, a traditional iPhone or tablet may still feel more comfortable.
iPhone Duo Case: Do You Need One?
For a device that starts at S$3,099, buying a case seems like a sensible move.
Apple’s official iPhone Duo Case will cost S$109 and will be available in navy blue and sand. Apple offers the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand for S$179, available in navy blue and taupe. Both accessories will be available to order from October 16.

iPhone Duo Singapore: Release Date and Pre-Order Details
The iPhone Duo will be available in Singapore from October 23, 2026. Pre-orders will begin on October 16, 2026, at 8 p.m. SGT through Apple and selected retailers or telco partners.

Here is a quick look at the Singapore pricing:
| Storage | Price in Singapore |
|---|---|
| 256GB | S$3,099 |
| 512GB | S$3,399 |
| 1TB | S$3,999 |
| 2TB | S$4,899 |
The phone comes in two finishes: Star White and Night Sky. It is also eSIM-only, so there is no physical SIM tray.
So, Should You Choose iPhone Duo over the Tablet?
The iPhone Duo can replace a tablet for casual entertainment, travel and everyday multitasking, but it is not a universal substitute for a full-sized iPad.
If you want fewer devices in your bag and love trying the latest tech, the iPhone Duo could be the foldable upgrade to watch in Singapore. But if you already own a good iPhone and tablet, keeping both may still be the more practical choice.
