True to its name, a concealer is a type of cosmetic that is used to mask dark circles, age spots, large pores, and other small blemishes visible on the skin. It is to hide different pigments by blending the imperfections into the surrounding skin tone. However, a lot of people do not know the exact place to apply a concealer.

In comes THREAD BY ZALORA Singapore, where we will show you the spots that a concealer is proven most effective. Here are where you should apply your concealer whenever you are using it during your beauty routine.

1. Under Your Eyes

A lot of people apply it here, but the problem now is that you are probably doing it wrongly. Sweeping your concealer directly below it is not the way to do it because it only emphasizes the spots, not concealing it. Instead, you need to even it out by drawing an upside-down triangle beneath it.

2. Above Eyelids

If you do not own an eyeshadow primer, a concealer would do the trick. Just dab it a little with your fingertips before giving it a smokey eye effect using your makeup.

3. To Coverup Zits

Everybody knows concealers are for covering up zits and scars on your face but did you know, you can also do that on your body? Apply it on your chest or back that needs covering with a creamy concealer, wait a few minutes, then setting powder on top of it.

4. On The Nose

You can even use concealers to cover up the redness around your nose. However, makeup tends to come off the nose area more quickly than anywhere else. So, make sure it is properly set in place to keep any redness hidden throughout the day. That is when the setting powder comes into play again.

Common Concealer Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using too much product, which can make the concealer look cakey and more likely to crease.
  • Choosing a shade that is too light for the under-eye area, which can leave a grey or ashy cast.
  • Applying concealer on dry, unprepped skin, causing it to cling to patches and settle into fine lines.
  • Blending too aggressively, especially over blemishes, which can move the product away from the area you want to cover.
  • Setting with too much powder, particularly under the eyes, which can make the skin look dry and textured.
